Reading Notes - Sindbad Part A

(Image taken from Mythology Folklore Blog)
The tales of Sindbad are interesting to me because of the seemingly random and bizarre nature of them. The animals are absurdly mythical and the circumstances are improbable to say the least. But there seems to be a raw honesty to the story because it is so ancient and it is told from the first person point of view. I think the combination of the point of view and fantasy is what truly makes it an epic, though I could not call Sindbad an epic hero. The stories seem to be more about the plot than the character.
